Formal Proposal for Final Major

My Film project has now evolved into my course final major.

To define what I intend to do formally as part of my Final Major Brief, I have drafted this formal statement:-

My final Major presentation will consist of a 20-30 minute documentary film based on the life and work of local pianist, Paul Rogers.

The piece will consist of a series of interviews, performances and dramatised scenes in order to depict the life and work of Paul, and will explore the relationship between his music, family life, religious beliefs and history of mental illness.

I will also try to explore the popular belief that there is a relationship between creative talent and mental disorders..

I will be filming on my own equipment (Canon EOS 5D mk II DSLR / Canon Legria HF100 Video camera) using a variety of different lenses, and also using both fixed and moving camera techniques.
Editing will be done using the college IMAC computers using Adobe Premiere Pro (CS5) and Adobe After Effects to create a final output in HD 1080 format using AVCHD codec.

The final project will be entered into the Glimmer Hull FIlm Festival.

..continuing..

This week I've done some more filming, this time at a band rehearsal for a charity night coming up in July... I've also began the editing process by putting together what I think will be the opening sequence.... I've made a descision to edit in full HD 1080p format using the CS5 version of Adobe Premiere Pro using the AVCHD codec.. I'm very impressed with the way the software seems to handle the footage, However I think the render process does take a bit longer.

Update so far.

This project is still on going. I have now had it arranged that I can submit it as my final major for my foundation degree.

I began filming it last month, having spent time with Paul whilst he's been working and at home doing some more formal interviews.

Editing wise I have been allowed to have access to the new media department in order to have access to a machine with CS5 on it so that I can edit in AVCHD.

Things are happening.
